5 Best Skin Serums, According to beautyheaven Editors

Serums are a non-negotiable part of any beauty editor’s skin care regimen. Often infused with active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and vitamins (think A through to E) a serum is your go-to guy for targeting specific skin concerns and seeing visible results.
But in the overwhelming world of beauty products, where do you even start? Our team of beauty editors revealed their top skin concerns and the serums they swear by to help them.

bh’s Ellie: Ultraceuticals Ultra B2 Hydrating Serum
“Towards the tail end of winter I got introduced to the Ultraceuticals Ultra B2 Hydrating Serum and oh BOY did it do my skin a solid. It’s smooth and silky to apply and is packed with hydrating heroes (vitamin B5, hyaluronic acid and vitamin B3) that work to plump up your skin. It basically brought my skin back from the (dry and dehydrated) dead. I love it and would recommend it to anyone who needs a boost of moisture.”
bh’s Kate: Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Liquid Rehydration Serum
“I've always thought my skin was super oily. Like, whenever it gets to 3pm my forehead has more shine than a Christmas ornament. For this reason I always tried to avoid any skin care products with words like 'hydration' in the title, as I figured that these products would just give my skin more moisture and therefore, more grease. But on a recent visit to a leading skin expert in Sydney (stay tuned for the video!) I learned the truth about my skin. It wasn't actually as oily as I thought – in fact, it was really, really thirsty and needed hydration in order to balance the oil production. I was instructed to start using this serum and I cannot believe the difference in my skin! I've definitely noticed less grease and way less breakouts thanks to giving my skin a good dose of h20. I now use it morning and night and have gone through multiple bottles of the stuff. My skin care regimen will never be without it again.” Find Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Liquid Rehydration Serum at adorebeauty.com.au
bh’s Katie: Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II
“I read so much hype about the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II that I had to try it for myself. I have been using it for a couple of months now and I just love the results I've seen so far. I apply it to my face every night before my moisturiser and after I cleanse. Now that I've left my twenties I've been investing in quality skin care products that help fight the signs of premature ageing. I like to do my research before I invest and the ingredients in this one really ticked a lot of boxes for me. This serum has really helped with my skin tone and while I don't have many fine lines to target, I really feel like my skin glows after using this product. It is definitely one that will be staying on my skin care shelf.”
bh’s Jordy: Anumi Miracle Recovery Concentrate
“As a fan of scientifically driven and results based formulas, I never really saw myself being a fan of a natural serum. Honestly, it had a lot to do with the fact that I didn’t think I would see results. But after using Anumi Miracle Recovery Concentrate I was a genuine fan. I suffer from spurts of eczema in winter and VERY dry skin and the natural ingredients, squalane and vitamin E soothed my eczema while still being deeply hydrating. It has a luxurious texture that I layered over with a heavy moisturiser and I would wake up with plumper skin that was perfectly primed for my makeup."
bh’s Sophie: Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrating Super Charged Concentrate
"I love the Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrating Super Charged Concentrate! My skin is really dehydrated after coming off Roaccutane, but since it's still acne prone – I always struggle to find a serum that's hydrating, without breaking me out. I've noticed that my skin is definitely plumper and less dry/ flaky since using this serum. I swear by it!"

I love the Ultraceuticals Ultra B2 Hydrating Serum and have used it consistently for a couple of years - inbetween other serums - but it's my mainstay.

My mother loves Estee Lauder's ANR, but my skin prefers plain old rosehip oil.

I have an extremely oily t zone and in the winter I do get dry patches on my cheeks, similar to Sophie above, I have struggled to find a serum that hydrates as well at not break me out. I will give the Clinique serum a go as the ones I have tried are not suitable for daily use and I require the daily hydration.

I've used the Estee Lauder and Clinique serums, plus I've also used an Ella Bache, Elizabeth Arden and Lancôme serum. I use a serum morning and night so even though I have my favourites I'm always willing to try another brand to see the effects on my skin.
