5 of the best humidity skin hacks

In hot and humid weather, it can be hard to keep your skin clear, hydrated and shine-free. To get you through the harsh Australian summer without a sweat (not literally of course, there will be plenty of that) we’ve put together five of the best humidity skin hacks to keep your skin looking its best.
#1 Stay hydrated
Good skin starts on the inside – so drinking plenty of water is a sure-fire way to keep your skin looking plump during summer months. Aim for around two litres per day, and include plenty of high water content foods in your diet, such as watermelon and cucumber.
When your skin is looking particularly dehydrated, Avène Thermal Spring Water will give it a much-needed boost from the outside. It's like a fresh, hydrating smoothie for your face.
#2 Try a cleansing tool
Thoroughly cleansing your face is especially important in hot and humid weather, as skin is far more likely to become congested. Combine a facial brush – such as the FOREO Luna 2 for Normal, Oily, Combination or Sensitive skin types, depending on your vice – with your go-to cleanser to effectively remove the build-up of dirt, excess oil and every last trace of makeup.
#3 Rinse with cold water
Post-cleansing and pre-moisturiser, give your face a good rinse with cold water. Not only does this offer a welcome relief when it’s hot outside, but it also tightens and minimises the appearance of pores, which are often a problem in humid weather.
#4 Opt for light formulations
Keep the rich, thick and creamy products for winter – and opt for lighter formulations during summer. Quickly and effectively remove your makeup with Simple Micellar Cleansing Water or NIVEA Pure & Natural Refreshing Cleansing Wipes, cleanse with a gel cleanser – we like Ultraceuticals Ultra Balancing Gel Cleanser as it contains aloe vera, cucumber and oat kernel extracts to soothe the skin – and moisturise with BIODERMA Hydrabio Light. If you’re a fan of a serum, try Trilogy Rosehip Oil Light Blend instead.
#5 Mist, mist, mist!
A facial mist should be your go-to product in humid weather. Carry one in your handbag, leave one at your desk and even keep one in the fridge for an extra burst of cool.
We like:
1. Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist 2. Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner 3. KORA Organics Energising Citrus Mist 4. Alpha-H Instant Facial 5. LUSH Breath of Fresh Air Toner Water
Will you try out any of the above this summer? Do you have any other humidity skin hacks?

I live in QLD and can't stand the humidity!!! I love the Sukin mist and keep one in the fridge for a cold refreshing pick me up. Curious about the Lush one or just anything soothing with rosewater in it.

It’s been such a humid summer this year! Love using face mists to cool down. I have the sukin facial mist, Mario badescu rose mist and the tarte rainforests of the sea which smells heavenly. I just bought the Jurlique rose mist to try too.

I have the Sukin spray on toner, which I use before moisturising. Those of you who spray your face during the day - do you spray it over your makeup?

Hi Kateeey, Yes I spray it over makeup but I do ensure that it is not so close to my face that it makes my mascara run.

I love facial mist. I keep a bottle in the fridge for those days when it's just too hot. My kids love a cooling mist as well.

Spraying a hydrating mist toner is easy. Remembering to drink water is not.
