5 steps to super soft skin

Has your skin taken a beating this winter? Is it feeling dry and lacking that healthy glow we all know and love? Well, let’s change that! The key to getting baby-soft skin is to rid it of rough, dead skin cells, and up its moisture levels. So if your skin is on the parched side, try these tricks for getting it touchably soft and smooth.
#1: NIX DRY SKIN
If your complexion is rough to the touch, you’re probably harbouring a layer of dead skin cells on top of the soft, new skin underneath. Get rid of it stat by using a face scrub once a week, and consider booking yourself in for a professional peel – this will remove all that dry, dead skin to reveal a much brighter, smoother, softer complexion.

#2: SWITCH UP YOUR CLEANSER
Does your regular cleanser leave your skin with that tight, squeaky-clean feeling, as though there’s absolutely no oil, grit or grime left behind? Do you just love that feeling? Well, sorry to break it to you, but while your skin may be very clean, your cleanser’s actually just sucked all of the moisture out of it. To get super soft skin, swap your harsh and drying cleanser for a mild milk or cream cleanser.

#3: SAY YES TO SHEA BUTTER
I love nothing more than slathering on a moisturiser and letting my skin soak up the goodness. Lately, I’ve been using a shea butter moisturiser, and my skin has never felt so damn soft – and for hours on end! Don’t confuse shea butter face moisturisers for super thick and creamy shea butter body butters – the former have a much thinner, lighter consistency, but will give you that same long-lasting hydration.

#4: MAKE FRIENDS WITH MIST
Sitting in an air-conditioned office during the day or spending hours out in the cold air can wreak havoc on your skin. It constantly battles the elements, resulting in a dry, crepey and tight complexion. Your saviour here is a facial mist – you can spray it directly over make-up or bare skin and it will sink deep into your skin and instantly rehydrate it. Say hello to a super soft, replenished complexion!

#5: BOOST YOUR OMEGA-3S
Eating fish is excellent for your health, but did you know that its omega-3 fatty acids can also do wonders for your skin? Omega-3s are rich in alpha-linoenic acid, which is a dream for reducing dryness and promoting soft, healthy skin. Top up your omegas by adding fish (like salmon) to your diet twice a week. Not a fan of fish? Get your daily dose with a supplement like Swisse Ultiboost Salmon Oil.

Winter is the time that my skin is at its best, except my hands. I like Neutrogena's Norwegian hand cream.

Exfoliating, moisturising, adding a rosehip oil if needed, plus lately I've been using a cream cleanser. My skin has never felt so soft! I keep wanting to touch it, it's hard to resist.

I will be using some of the above tips and actually exfoliating my skin. I tend to forget the exfoliation step.

L'Occitane Shea butter I heard is very good and if it weren't so expensive I would have already bought a pot. At the moment I am sticking to my organic Virgin coconut oil but will get that Shea Butter ASAP -

I don't think I've tried a moisturiser with shea butter in it before! Something I'll have to read up more about...

I use Macadamia oil as a moisturiser. With oily skin its super hydrating without being too heavy on my skin and doesn't leave that greasy feeling :)

My skin is very oily but also dehydrated. I cannot use products that are too moisturising like shea butter since they tend to leave a film on my skin and make me shiny.

I keep my skin moisturised and layer on some RHO which seems to keep them smooth.

I find exfoliating followed by a moisturiser & face oil helps keep my skin free from dryness. Once a week I'll add a mask into my routine as well. I'm trying to remember to exfoliate twice a week as I'm finding my skin doesn't feel too great by the day I get around to mask time.

I've just doubled my intake of fish oils because I believe it's doing a great job of protecting my brain - and then there's the benefits that it give softer skin too!
I also think exfoliating regularly with moisturisation straight afterwards does a good job making skin softer.

My skin is soft because I never let it go dry. I follow most of the steps above. At my age, I know the importance of keeping my skin well hydrated. :)

Shea butter is amazing, I've started using a Shea unrefined butter from a natural shop, nothing else added. The body shop Shea range is great too.
