How to give your skin a deep, thorough cleanse

Ever wondered why, even after you’ve cleansed your entire face, there’s still makeup on your cotton pad when you use your toner? That’s because sometimes your cleanser doesn’t catch everything. And if this sounds like something that often happens to you, then you might be in need of a double dosage.

So what exactly does this mean? Well, if you want a really deep clean, you’d be best to start with a moisturising cleansing oil before you pick up your regular cleanser. We love Planet Eve Organics Certified Organic Facial Cleansing Oil for its insanely nourishing formula, and SK-II Facial Treatment Cleansing Oil for its special skin-clearing properties.
beautyheaven also loves La Mer The Cleansing Oil, The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil and Jurlique Nourishing Cleansing Oil.
To effectively use a cleansing oil, begin by dampening your face, and then apply a few drops of the oil over your face and neck. Your make-up and any excess sebum should start shifting immediately.
Your regular cleanser will then mop up any oily residue and provide a quick second cleanse, and your toner will leave your skin feeling touch-dry and oh-so-fresh.
Need a new regular cleanser? beautyheaven loves Sukin Cream Cleanser, Dermalogica UltraCalming Cleanser and Trilogy Cream Cleanser.
How do you achieve a thorough cleansing? What cleansers do you use?

Cleansing oil really does the trick for me. I always choose one that doesn't sting eyes so I don't have to use a separate eye makeup remover.
