Six wonderful wet weather-friendly products
The pitter-patter of rain is awesome when you’re cuddled up on the couch with a cup of tea and watching a cheesy chick flick. Or when you’re cosy in your bed and nodding off to sleep. It’s not so fabulous when you’re actually heading out and need to worry about your hair and make-up lasting, oh, at least five minutes after you step outside.
And considering this torrential rain we’ve been having lately, it seems like we have quite a predicament on our hands. Well, it would be if we didn’t have a few products up our sleeves that you could use to ensure your make-up stays in place all day – rain, hail, or shine!
Your foundation: Lycogel Breathable Camouflage, a foundation that not only offers fabulously flawless coverage while allowing your skin to breathe, but is also water-resistant for up to 90 minutes (yes, that includes swimming!), so you can be sure that the formula will stay put while dashing in the rain. An added bonus? It stays put in scorching hot weather, too. It’s basically your extreme weather make-up solution!
Your concealer: Need to make sure that those few blemishes or dark circles don’t make reappear during the day? Maybelline Coverstick Waterproof is a long-lasting, blendable concealer that will have you covered. The formula is a little thick, so make sure to use it sparingly so it doesn’t look too cakey.
Your blush: A powder or cream blush might not do so well in the wet weather, so opt for a cheek tint that will lightly stain the apples of your cheeks. ModelCo CHEEK + LIPS is a transparent gel that will leave a sheer rosy colour on your cheeks. Plus, you can also use it on your lips for a subtle hint of colour.
Your eyeliner: Waterproof is always the way to go if you’re worried about your eyeliner streaking down your face. Bourjois’ Clubbing Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil will see you through any precarious situation – be it heat, rain, or a teary movie. And that’s not the only thing that’s great about it: the creamy black formula is perfect for creating a striking eye look.
Your mascara: The same rule applies for mascara: always opt for a waterproof version. Mavala Switzerland Eye-lite Waterproof Mascara is available in a whole array of colours to keep your lashes thick, long, and lustrous throughout the day. The protein-rich formula will also condition your lashes, so you can be sure they’ll be in good nick, too.
Your lip colour: Okay, so a lipgloss or a lipstick won’t really wash off with the rain, but if you want a lip colour that will definitely go the distance whatever the weather, try a lip stain. Mirenesse Lip Bomb Glossy Lacquer Stain combines the shine of a lipgloss, the pigment of a stain, and the hold of a lacquer to leave your lips with a beautiful touch of colour.
