How to stop foundation creasing in your smile lines with this clever makeup hack

Considering how much the Australian woman spends on cosmetics per year, it is in our best interest to find a few beauty heroes that have multiple uses so we don't have to skimp on some of the luxury products we couldn't possibly part with. And we think we've uncovered one great way to do this with a cult beauty product you may already own.

As a response to her followers' requests, YouTube beauty vlogger Jackie Aina released a video titled 'Preventing Makeup Smile/Laugh Lines!' in which she claims to have solved the issue of mouth lines appearing after she has applied her makeup. Aina names the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion as her saving grace to stop the creases.
Being the true beauty investigators that we are, we wanted to make sure that this claim wasn't giving you any false hope for a creaseless face of makeup, so we asked MECCA's Head of Artistry, Tony Baumann, if this product would actually perform when used on your mouth lines.
Although he hasn't used it for the purpose of stopping mouth lines from appearing under your makeup, Baumann does believe the texture of the Primer Potion would definitely fit the bill. "It's designed to adhere product to the skin and keep oil at bay, so the same rule would apply for around the mouth," he says of the Primer Potion's formula.
"The space-age polymer technology fills in imperfections and creates a flawless base."

So now we know it works! But how exactly would you apply it to ensure the best results? "I would use a domed synthetic eyeshadow brush to apply and buff it around the lip line," says Baumann. Let the primer dry before applying any product on top.
So it preserves your eyeshadow, and conceals the lines around your mouth, but it doesn't stop there. Baumann suggests Potion Primer is also perfect to preserve your lipstick by feathering the product around your lip line to prevent your lipstick or lip liner bleeding.
"You could also use it as a pre-concealer sealant of sorts, to lock down concealer that you're using to cover any pigmentation or blemishes," says Baumann.
