How-to: be barefaced and beautiful
Fashion Week creates a lot of commentary on new hair and make-up trends each year – and it’s all awesome, but there was one particular quote from MAC National Make-Up Artist Nicole Thompson that I just had to share with you.
“We as a team, and myself, we focus more on the preparation of the skin than we do on the foundation. When I learnt make-up 10 years ago, I felt like we went straight to foundation – fix everything with foundation – it’s just changed so much with all the technology in the new products that are coming out. Now there are so many amazing prepping products that get the skin looking amazing. When you’ve prepped the skin properly, you don’t even need to add foundation. You just conceal your under eye circles, maybe a little bit of red around the nose, and everything else looks luminous. That’s definitely a new movement with skin.”
So what does that mean for you? It means that skin is in this season and that it’s all about putting the time and effort into making your skin look incredible, instead of covering it up with an incredible product. Check out some of the best products to give you a beautiful barefaced complexion (and better skin!).
Perfect skin means dealing with the issues you often want to cover up. That means blemishes, redness and pigmentation, scarring and uneven skin tone. There are many complexion-perfecting products to deal with any or all of your biggest skin issues.
Lancôme DreamTone: specially formulated to fix pigmentation problems and fight against redness and blemish marks.
Estée Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator: ideal for dealing with uneven skin tone, while imparting an immediate radiance.
Yves Saint Laurent Forever Light Creator Serum: great for treating dark spots and providing your complexion with overall clarity.
Sheer foundations that pack a punch
The great thing about this trend is that the focus is on improving your own skin. That being said, it’s always preferable to have a foundation on hand that provides your skin with a radiant glow – without feeling heavy.
L’Oréal Paris Nude Magique Eau de Teint: delivers a smooth, velvet finish and a ‘zero make-up’ feel.
Mineralogie Liquid Hydration Sheer Tint: provides a sheer wash of colour that helps to hydrate, protect and even your skin tone.
MAC Face and Body Foundation: creates a water-resistant, natural-looking coverage while nourishing your skin.
Which product would you be most likely to try? What do you think of the barefaced look?
