A few of my favourite things

I’ve been feeling a little flat this week. Low energy, zero motivation to do anything, basically just feeling I’ve gotten up in the morning, gone through the motions of my day, without actually really waking up. Know what I mean?
Blame it on a post-long weekend comedown, the rainy weather, the fact that it’s that time of the month, or a combination of all three – whatever the reason, I’ve had four days of it now and I’m kinda over my melancholy mood.
So, in an attempt to cheer myself up, I’ve decided to make like The Sound of Music (only one of my all-time fave movies), and think about my most recent favourite beauty finds to bring a smile back to my dial.
Being an avid supporter of make-up that lets you look like you’re not wearing any make-up, I’m a big fan of Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation SPF15. It provides sheer to medium coverage without leaving you looking shiny or caked in foundation, and once you put it on, you can rely on it to stay put!
While I wouldn’t classify myself as having sensitive skin, Trilogy Sensitive Skin Very Gentle Calming Fluid has been a godsend for my sometimes-stressed complexion. Formulated with olive and avocado oils, and camomile and calendula, it soothes and reduces the redness in my skin and makes my face feel fabulous. I wear it like a serum under my day cream when I’m in need of some extra hydration, or on it’s own as a light moisturiser on a hot day.
L’Occitane Cherry Blossom Petal Soft Body Cream is a luxuriously rich body lotion housed in a cute vintage-esque tub. Enriched with shea butter and plant oils, it smoothes on like a dream and leaves my skin smelling sweet and feeling utterly hydrated.
What do you do to cheer yourself up when you’re feeling down?

Good article Deb! A few people I know (including myself) have been feeeling this way lately so all these tips are handy :) A few of my favourite things.... cuddles from my cat, sitting outdoors and breathing in the fresh air and soaking up the sun, a spritz of my fave perfume and using my essential oils all help pick me up when i'm really, really down!

I wear bright colour top or dress to do that reverse psychology and make me feel better without thinking I am flat or down. Or I paint my nails bright colours too

hmm sit down with a slice of raspberry cheesecake, and read a good book. Or think about something I'm looking forward too. Power of positive thinking!!

One word: chocolate. Although eating too much leads to bad skin which i don't love. Everything in moderation...!

Hmm, a nice warm shower or cold really cheers me up and just lying on my bed listening to beautiful music is a blessing to the soul.

Love that movie too (right up there with Willy Wonka - the original, and Zoolander). For things that make me feel good - I love my hubby and son, but don't get much alone time these days so for me, maybe going out, getting a haircut, a gossipy mag, and go to my favourite cafe' with slouch sofas and beanbags and bliss out for an hour. Also a spray of some yummy uplifting fragrance like Clinique Happy or Estee Lauder's Pleasures makes me feel nice. "Adelweiss, adelweiss, every morning you greet me........." May have to hire that out tonight :-)
