Quick hairstyles for teenagers

Q: I have curly hair and would love some more quick hairstyles other than a braid to do quickly before I go to school. If you could post pictures or videos or just an idea I would appreciate it! – Rachie30
A: As a fellow curly-haired girl, I feel your pain, Rachie30. If I don’t spend the time straightening my hair, coming up with a cute hairstyle that suits my curls can be quite a task. So I’ve done a bit of research and found five super-cute hairstyles that will a) suit any hair type – even curls, and b) be appropriate to wear to school.
#1: A high ponytail
Do you know how glorious a ponytail can look when you’ve got curly hair? One look at Jenna Dewan-Tatum is sure to convince you that the style is the right combination of messy and cute. Leave some hair out by your hairline to give the look a softer touch.
(P.S. – This looks equally as glorious on those with straight hair, but if you feel like your ponytail is lacking a bit of volume, tease the hair on your crown for extra oomph or use a Scunci Perfect Pony Tool.)
#2: Clip your front pieces back
Pinning back your fringe (or your front pieces) is a nifty little way to keep your hair off your face without putting it up entirely. And if your hair is a bit greasy at the roots, this is just the thing you’ll need to hide it. For some added volume, collect the front pieces at the crown of your head, twist them 180 degrees, push forward to create a small quiff, and secure in place with bobby pins.
#3: A topknot with a twist
Make that topknot stand out a bit by teaming it with a headband. Lea Michele’s opted for a simple double-braided headband for a look that’s simple, yet still chic, but you can go as low-key or loud as you like.
#4: A braid-bun combo
You say you’re looking for something other than just a braid, but don’t ditch it altogether! Braid your hair by your hairline, taking it down to the nape of your neck. Secure with a bobby pin, then tie up the rest of your hair in a low bun and you’re good to go!
#5: Not your average ponytail
Why not try something a bit left-of-centre with your ponytail. We love what Olivia Wilde did with hers, and it’s as easy-as-pie to recreate. Just check out the how-to here. Cute as it is, this style might not get as good results if you’ve got lots of layers in your hair.
Which of these hairstyles would you like most to recreate? What’s your favourite quick hairstyle to do?

1 and #4 are nice. At my school we have to have our hair up so I usually go for a high ponytail or a french braid.
