The best hair mask for your hair type

Hair masks are an essential part of any good hair care routine but you’d be forgiven for wondering what the best hair mask for you really is. After all, not all hair masks are created equal and while you might have found one that you love, is it really addressing your hair concerns? When it comes to the best hair mask for you, it’s important to consider why you’re using a hair mask in the first place – and the easiest way to identify what’s right for you is to choose a hair mask for your hair type.

Once you’ve identified your hair type, it’s time to find the best hair mask for you. Whether you’re looking for a hair mask for dry hair, a hair mask for damaged hair, a hair mask for frizzy hair, a hair mask for bleached or coloured hair or a hair mask for oily hair, beautyheaven has got your covered. Read on to discover yours and find out just what it can do for your strands.
Best hair mask for dry hair
Dry hair can be a real pain. It can often feel brittle and fragile and requires a lot of extra TLC. The main objective when determining the best hair mask for dry hair is to find a formula that is going to replenish all the moisture that your strands are lacking. Another factor that could be drying out your hair could be the lack of natural oil production. Combat these issues by adding a deeply nourishing hair mask to your hair regimen. Key ingredients to look out for include hydrating properties such as argan oil and coconut oil.

Best hair mask for oily hair
Finding that your hair gets really oily not long after washing? You need a mask to balance all the excess oil production without stripping all the essential moisture out of your hair. Look for something with clarifying ingredients to absorb oils and impurities right at the scalp. If you’re still looking for a nourishing hair mask to work its magic on dry ends, apply the balancing mask to the scalp while focusing a conditioning mask on the ends. Make sure the nourishing mask is never applied higher than the ears to avoid more heaviness at the roots.

Best hair mask for damaged hair
Whether your hair has been damaged from frequent dye jobs or has been suffering from exposure to the elements, there’s a hair mask to help. Choose an intensive formula that will get right into all the weak spots in your hair and work to strengthen your strands. Overnight hair formulas can be a great option if you’re wanting an even deeper nourish for the locks.

Best hair mask for frizzy hair
Tame the frizz with a regular hair mask that’s designed to smooth your strands. Frizz can often be caused by a lack of moisture in the hair, so a hair mask for the frizzy type needs to help restore hydration. Banish unruly hair by using a weekly mask that contains natural oils that will deeply moisturise the shaft of the hair.

Best hair mask for coloured hair
After spending hours at the hairdresser getting that perfect colour, that last thing you want to see is it all disappearing down the shower drain. Using a colour-saving hair mask is a must for giving your colour the best longevity. Ingredients like bamboo extract can help to strengthen the hair and keep your beautiful colour intact and prevent future fading.

I had some Moroccan oil and I popped this in before I washed it, maybe next time I should put in earlier so it can soak in a bit more

I currently have three masks - Justice Professional, Goldwell Dualsenses and Pump. I like a mask that addresses coloured or damaged hair.

My damaged hair desperately needs hair treatment but as I shower in thr morning I don't have time to leave a hair mask in. So I've been loving pre shampoo treatments, they're fantastic to leave on overnight

Until 6 months ago I had never heard of hair masks. I was introduced to Avon Advance Techniques Intense Repair Moisture Mask. I have been using this now for some time and can see and feel a difference in my hair as it is softer and feels fuller. I will have to try one of your products mentioned in this article next time as Avon has left Australia.

I like the article as it mentioned various hair masks based on hair types. Personally I don't like hair masks containing silicon or protein as one ultimately dries out hair and the other makes hair stiff. I am constantly looking for a good mask that would nourish, hydrate and protect.

The last two hair masks turned my dry hair into a brittle and straw-like mess because they have so much protein. It was a learning experience, so now I avoid hair products with lots of protein. This is extremely hard because companies include some variation of protein in most hair products. I'm much better off doing a pre-shampoo treatment with jojoba oil.

De Lorenzo's Equilibrium kept my hairdresser assisted blonde hair in fantastic condition. I preferred it when it was in a pump pack. The jar packaging is my major gripe with most treatments.
