How-to: find the perfect rose gold shade for you
Sienna Miller has been off the scene for a little while – and it seems as though we finally know why. She’s been off trying out a new trend; a dazzling new hair colour that brings to life the most appealing of the ‘golds’: rose gold. A colour so striking, so shiny and beautiful, that you’re certain to be speeding off to the hairdresser to get the same for yourself.
For that reason we sought the help of Andrew Bradbury, Head Colourist at Barney Martin Hair, to show us exactly how we can achieve the same look as Sienna. Check out his tips for attaining the trend de jour.
Find the perfect red/rose gold shade for you
Rose gold is a hybrid of blonde and red, kind of like strawberry blonde, but with a more sophisticated, sassier edge. We know that with reds, one shade doesn’t fit all, so Andrew suggests talking to your stylist about how to get the perfect red hue for you by varying the amount of blonde and red in your hue. “This winter the redhead trend is catching a blaze, from pastel apricot blondes to fiery reds, think deep, rich tones to compliment the cool change this season,” says Andrew.
Try a semi-permanent
Not sure if rose gold is the right colour for you? Try a semi-permanent colour! Andrew suggests this as a way of easing into the look without having to put up with a permanent change.
Go bold, go on!
If you’re going to go with a bold hair colour, Andrew suggests teaming it with a bold hair cut, too! He says: “Bold red hair suits strong cuts, so it might be time to go for the blunt fringe or levelled lob you’ve always wanted.” Snip snip!
‘Up’ the shine
Just like with your watches and jewellery, rose gold hair looks its best (and healthiest) when super shiny. Round up a selection of shine-enhancing and nourishing products to really keep your colour in top condition. We love: Wella System Professional Shine Defining Shampoo and Conditioner, Sexy Hair Big Sexy Hair Big Shine – Shine Spray and TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray.
