Fixing all your beauty blunders
For all the beauty blunders we’ve made over the years, you’d think we’d know better when it comes to overcoating our lashes or asking for an “extra dark” tan in the middle of winter. But hey, s%$t happens.
Here's what to do when...
… You’ve used too much fake tan, and now you’re orange
Most - if not all - of us beauty fiends have resembled an oompa loompa at some stage, so when your tan starts to take a turn for the worse, reach for a men’s shaving cream. It’s brilliant at improving stained skin. Let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe it off. And if that doesn’t work, move on to Plan B. Grab a foundation brush and blend it over your problem areas. Fake tan tends to stick around joints like knuckles, elbows and knees (especially in the dry winter months), so if the tan won’t budge, invest in body make-up to conceal the boo-boo.
...You’ve been enjoying your summer holiday sooo much, all the sun and swimming has turned your hair green
Swimming in chlorinated water and spending a lot of time in the sun can spell disaster for blondes - namely, an unwanted colour change. But never fear, there is a cure, and it comes in the form of a condiment. Tomato sauce, the theory goes, works to neutralise that icky green tone. How so, you ask? Well, the red perfectly counteracts the green tint, kind of like putting a green-tinted concealer on an angry red blemish. Massage the sauce into your hair and leave it for around half an hour before washing out with cool water. And just for the record, we’re aware we sound a little nuts.
… You’ve applied too much mascara and now you’re past the point of no return
There’s a fine line between perfectly coated lashes and clumpy ones, and the latter just looks messy. The only way to get rid of clumpiness is to remove the mascara, and start again. Never try to comb it out, as you’ll most likely end up breaking your precious lashes, especially if the mascara is waterproof.
… You’ve used too much dry shampoo and now you look 87
Hands up if you’ve fallen victim to a case of the ‘too much dry shampoo’ crime? Yeah, me too. If you’ve gone overboard with product, giving your scalp a massage to gently blend it in. Brush your locks, then keep repeating the process until the residue disappears. Another trick to to use an oil or pomade to get rid of the excess white stuff.
