Jessie J, is that really you?
Jessie J, you’ve always been the wild one. The crazy one. The daring one. And that’s why we love you. You’re never afraid to try out a new beauty trend, no matter where it sits on the scale of ridiculously outrageous to absolutely bonkers. In fact, the more berserk the look, the better you seem to look.
You’ve rocked a glossy black bob and razor sharp blunt fringe. And you owned it.
You’ve sported hot pink dip-dyed ends. And you looked hot.
You’ve donned black lipstick on your pout. And you didn’t look like a goth.
You’ve worn more dark eye make-up than anyone ever should. And you didn’t look like a clown.
You, Jessie J, are a master of the outrageous beauty trend. Truly you are.
That’s why I’m currently gobsmacked. Absolutely speechless. You’ve just walked the ruby rug for the 2013 Brit Awards and you look normal. Your hair is parted in the middle and it is straight. Your make-up is neutral; there are no bold lips, no heavy eye make-up, and no overly powerful blush. It’s possible you’re wearing false eyelashes, but that’s as crazy as it gets. Sure, you’re wearing an extreme plunging neckline, but your dress is black. Plain black. And the accessories have been kept to a minimum.
What happened to the real Jessie J? You know, the one that doesn’t conform? The fun one! I miss her. Yes, you look glorious and wonderfully sultry, but you’ve lost your ‘thing’. Your pizazz, even.
Bring the zany Jessie J back, please. She makes red carpet events exciting and wonderfully entertaining. Leave the classic, elegant looks to the other British babes like Emily Blunt, Kate Beckinsale and Keira Knightley. Quirky is your thing, JJ. Own it, or you’ll lose it and regret it. Just sayin’.
What do you think of Jessie J’s toned-down beauty look? Do you think she looks almost unrecognisable on the 2013 Brit Awards ruby rug? Do you like her new look? Or prefer her when she looks a little quirkier?
