A supplement for: extra energy
The last thing you want during the party season is to feel tired and lethargic. While energy drinks and high-sugar foods may perk you up in the short term, they’ll leave you feeling lower than you started once your sugar-high ends. Instead, up your energy levels the natural, healthy way with a vitamin B-heavy supplement. It helps your metabolism to convert food into energy and replenishes depleted nutrients, leaving you feeling more energetic and less fatigued for longer.

A supplement for: an immune boost
Ever noticed how you manage to burn the candle at both ends during crazy busy periods but then as soon as things start to slow down you get sick? Put a stop to post-silly season sickness by strengthening your immune system from the get go with a regular intake of vitamin C. Likewise, a daily dose of Olive Leaf Extract will help to ward off colds, flues and viruses and can also help to reduce the length of a cold once it hits.

A supplement for: better sleep
No matter how many vitamins you’re taking or how well you’re eating, you’ll never look your best if you don’t get a good night’s sleep. If the end of year activities have got you all fired up, you might need something to help soothe you in to a peaceful slumber. Blackmores Sleep Sound Formula contains valerian extract to improve sleep quality, plus lemon balm and magnesium to help you relax.

A supplement for: glowing skin
When you’ve got a busy work and social schedule, it’s always a good idea to give your skin an inner pick-me-up to ensure that it looks as radiant as possible (plus, your party make-up will go on much easier too if your complexion is clear!). Look for supplements that contain things like zinc, essential fatty acids and collagen as these help to restore your skin from within, protect it from free radical damage, and promote radiance.

It’s obvious some patients with herpes are being enslaved to the antiviral and other supplementary Orthodox medicine just to help suppress the virus and not a cure. Sadly I have been turned off vitamins and supplements in tablet or capsule forms due to seeing the negative effects it has on people’s bodies. Anything about fruit or vegetables benefits would be better

How about foods that we can eat instead of supplements? I don't like popping pills to fix things.

Probably best to check if you actually have a deficiency first.

I've started taking 2000mg ascorbic acid daily.
While some may say this is excessive, my skin is glowing.
I have heard that excess ascorbic acid may cause kidney stones so I may have to back off but for the time being, wow!

Most you can get from a good diet.
Judicious use of supplements is good and need not be expensive if you live near Costco!
I only take magnesium and vit C.

As a (homeopath, not nutritionist) practitioner, I have to limit what I can say, just that there are MANY supplements, retail and practitioner only, and they are definitely not all easily replaced by a varied diet. Im thinking of various herbs, therapeutic doses (not just for maintenance) of certain vitamins and minerals in different forms, bromelain (youd have to eat a truckload of pineapples in place of a tablet!) Olive leaf extract, etc. It IS important to go to your Dr if you have ongoing problems. Get a blood test. Get checked. Sometimes a GP will suggest supplementation of iron, vitamin D etc. So much for "no evidence". THEN if you are not doing well, please see a professional practitioner before going on with any supplements. You can still DIY after getting professional advice. You will most likely end up with taking less, with better effect. Best wishes, Anne
