Anthelios Invisible Fluid Facial Sunscreen SPF50+ Reviews

I was excited to be included in the trial for this product - my work means I spend a majority of the day outdoors, and so adequate sun protection is an absolute priority for me!
I was very impressed with the packaging - a cute and compact bottle with a tapered nozzle and securely sealed screw lid. The ingenious inclusion of a shaker ball in the bottle ensures all the UV filter ingredients are properly combined within the product.
The product itself is a white fluid with a consistency similar to pouring cream, with no discernable smell. The tapered nozzle ensures you can easily control the flow when dispensing the product. Being a fluid, a little goes a long way and I found a 10c sized amount was enough to cover my face and neck.
I have a habit of mixing a little tinted moisturizer into my face sunscreens, and I continued that during this trial. It mixed beautifully and provided a sheer coverage to give me a nicer canvas prior to makeup. But I know from all the other reviews that even without a tint, this product does not give any white casting.
The product was smooth and easy to apply - but I did not enjoy the consistency of the product on the face when first applied (my only negative). It had a strange sort of thick, wet feel to it - it's hard to describe, but sort of like when you mix cornflour with water?? I have very oily skin and prefer products that absorb really quickly and leave my skin feeling dry and matte (an impossible ask of a sunscreen product, I know! Especially one offering 50+ protection). But this feeling soon faded as the product sank into my skin.
My usual morning routine is to shower, apply skincare (including sunscreen), then go have breakfast (allowing everything to absorb properly) before applying makeup. I recommend this routine as it ensure the sunscreen has fully absorbed. It then felt comfortable on the skin, and I experienced no sensitivities when using it.
My makeup (mineral powder) applied smoothly and evenly - and best of all, no balling!
I did experience some shininess after a few hours - but I have very oily skin and would experience some shine regardless of what product I was using (even if I was using nothing at all!).
There is no question about sun protection - I didn't experience any burning or redness even when exposed to the sun for several hours. The product does not claim to be water resistant, so I would use an alternative product for days at the beach or pool.

I highly recommend this product and would consider purchasing again - although the packaging appears small I think it will last a long time, and the quality of the product makes it good value.

This sunscreen comes in the perfect size to fit in yoyr purse or handbag so you can always access it while you're on the go. It's got a very runny consistency and you need to shake it well before use, there's a ball bearing in there to help with that. A little bit went quite a long way, it had a silky feel and went on easily without leaving ant white marks, white marks is my pet hate with sunscreen. I wore it both alone as well as under my make up every day throughout my trial. I definitely preferred it alone, but even then I still found it to make my T zone more oily than usual after about an hour or so. However it did not clog my pores or cause any irritation, blemishes or break outs. Also I didn't end up with any sunburn and I was out with my daughter all day a few days, when under my make up I didn't re apply but when it was worn alone I only reapplied once. It issues with the product came when I wore it under my make up, which was either Revlon photo ready liquid foundation or thin lizzy powder, the sunscreen caused the liquid make up to pretty much slide off my t zone and just not last anywhere near as long as usual ad well as look quite shiny all over instead off matt and it caused the powder to look thick and mottled on my cheeks and disappear off my nose. I thought perhaps i was using too much sunscreen or not waiting long enough after application to put on my primer but I changed the way I did it slightly every day to no avail. Overall it is a nice product but not perfect for me for all occasions. I found it so gentle however that i also used it on my toddler and she has sensitive skin but she had no reaction whatsoever so that's a big plus for me.

Both myself and my daughter suffer from extremely sensitive skin and find it hard to find a sunscreen that doesn't leave us with some form of irritation, particularly on our faces. So naturally I was excited when I was invited to do this trial.

The product comes in a cute, handbag sized package with an orange label. The small applicator makes it easy to disperse a controlled amount of product.

The sunscreen itself is a light, watery consistency, making it easy to spread onto the face and gives a good coverage from a small amount. Unlike many sunscreen products, there is little to no scent to this product, which is great for a facial sunscreen.

The product is light and doesn't leave much of a residue, making it perfect under makeup, or by itself.

The 50+ SPF is ideal for Australian conditions and was a godsend during our recent trip to the beach.

The price point for this product is another huge win, as a little product goes a long way, and for me personally to buy a product that delivers all of the promises it makes is priceless.

Overall I'm so impressed with the standard of this product and will definitely be repurchasing now just for myself but my entire family!!

Initial thoughts on viewing the product:

To be clear, this is a product I have reviewed back in 2016. There is more to this little tale, so please read on for further detail.

This product (and its box) is small and yes, it’s not particularly cheap (priced at around $30, depending upon where you purchase it). This sunscreen comes in a classically white box with orange and yellow branding. The bottle itself is a rounded rectangular shape with the nozzle on one side (with a screw top) and holds a 50ml of liquid sunscreen with a ball bearing. The ball bearing is for the mixing of product (more on that in a bit). There is plenty of information on the box, however the gist of it is this: the sunscreen is a purposeful facial sunscreen for those of us with more sensitive skin with a preference for a less sticky finish.

Thoughts on application:

As I mentioned earlier, I have reviewed this product before. It appears, however, La Roche have perhaps given this product a slight reformulation and for that, I thank them for this opportunity.

This sunscreen appears to be titanium-free and very low in zinc, and has the full list of ingredients on their website. It does however contain silica and dimethicone, so for those of you who have sensitivities to these two ingredients in particular, you might want to watch out.

The first hot tip for this review is to vigorously shake prior to application. That ball bearing is there for a reason. Just like a good nail polish, it allows for the mixing of what appears to be oil and water-based ingredients within the bottle. Together you will have a successful product. Separately it doesn’t look so great in the hand (literally like a milky cream and oil from the pantry).

The texture is light and I appreciate that. The consistency is thin and extremely liquid, and a small amount goes a very long way (so that $30 should last you for quite some time). My skin does not feel like it has a thick layer on it like typical sunscreens. I applied this sunscreen after my skincare routine without issue and found that my eyes did not get irritated in any way. Of particular interest was when I had a full face threading: my skin was not irritated when I used this sunscreen afterwards either. Good to know! I did not, however, enjoy this sunscreen with makeup application, and feel it is something I will have to experiment with more (perhaps using mineral makeup versus liquid foundations). This sunscreen absorbs reasonably quickly, but truly, it does feel light (not mask-like or thick on your skin) and was very easy to add onto my routine.

This is a fantastic everyday sunscreen made in France.

The sun protection fluid comes in a tiny white and orange coloured rectangular 50ml plastic bottle. At the top left edge of the bottle, there is a dispensing nozzle helps in controlling the flow of the product.

This is a non-perfumed product. It smells a bit medicinal. The product contains La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water and it is paraben-free.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL is suitable for oily and acne-prone skin also for normal to combination skin. The Ultra Light SPF50+ offers the highest protection against UVA and UVB rays.

I like the non greasy formula, lightweight and easy to apply. My skin feels smooth after application. I usually apply this product twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon. And it will last long enough for the day. I love this travel-friendly packaging that I can keep in my bag travel with me.

This sunscreen is highly recommended.

Have always love la roche posay skincare product but have never tried their sunscreen before. The packaging it's cute & compact squeeze bottle. Great for everyday use just slip in into handbag as it is lightweight too. Additional benefits to bring when travelling too. Love that it is SPF 50 and ultra light. It absord into my skin easily once i applied it on. Leaving my skin feels natural throughout the wholeday. No more greasy oily skin and the best part of all, no more steaky white noticable sunscreen to be seen. My skin gets sensitive when it's too hot so this product suits my skin very well as it is designed to be used for people sensitive skin too. Just remember to shake well the product to get an even application. Will be my skin new bestfriend. Anyone else who needs a light weight sunscreen should try this out as it is one of the best I've used so far to date.

I have a confession to make. I have not used sunscreen in a very long time because I often forget or don't like the scent of sunscreen. I have relied on the sunscreen that is already in my foundation, which has mostly saved my face from burning, but if my foundation comes off, it is beetroot city!
This product is so damn good for people like me. It has no gross sunscreen scent, is easy to apply, and dries quickly without and horrible sticky residue. I apply it after moisturizer and before foundation, and it still doesn't feel sticky. It also allows my foundation to glide on well, and doesn't affect the staying power of my foundation.
I applied it all over my face, and down to my decolletage. My face is very frustrating because it is very dry in certain spots, however this product has added an extra layer of moisture so I am left with perfectly smooth skin.
The only cons I have with this product, is the packaging is quite common for sunscreen so it isn't overly attractive, and it is quite a small bottle so I don't know how long it would last if used every day.
I do like the shape of the bottle though, and the ease of getting the sunscreen out of the bottle. I have received absolutely no sunburn or irritation while using this product.
I definitely want to start exploring sunscreen again to find one that I can use on my body that doesn't have a gross scent or affect the scent or feel of moisturizer.

In my opinion the lightness of the sunscreen is it's best feature. It doesn't leave your skin feeling very sticky like some sunscreen does. The fluid has lotion consistency, not heavy nor gluggy.

The lights scent is fine, not highly perfumed and doesn't smell very chemically.

The first few times of use I applied the sunscreen on my face, neck and the back of my hands. My skin feels smoother after application. My skin looks shinier than usual on my oily zones, so it doesn't work as well as a base before my usual all-in-one cushion cream.

Unfortunately after a few days of using it there were some pimples that came up on my nose. This despite washing my face with my usual facial cleanser that can remove waterproof thing. I didn't use other new product on my face, thus I concluded this non-comedogenic sunscreen is probably the culprit that started my pimples.

True enough, after I stopped using it on my face, my pimples died down and there was no more pimples.

It works fine on my neck, back of hands and arms. It's gentle enough to use on children's delicate skin - my 6 year old didn't have any problem whatsoever when I used it on her face and neck.

Based on that I think my skin doesn't like certain ingredients in the sunscreen, but it might work for other people with normal skin.

I received this sunscreen on trial and was a little hesitant seeing it is a chemical based sunscreen and my skin therapist said to use zinc based sunscreens.

I replaced my zinc based sunscreen with LA ROCHE-POSAY ANTHELIOS XL ULTRA LIGHT SPF50+ and had no adverse reactions at all which is fantastic.

I found the liquid to be very very runny, but as this cream is so thin and light it absorbed very quickly into my skin. I applied the cream after my moisturiser and before my foundation. My make-up did go over the top nicely enough but not as good as my zinc based sunscreen.

It has a chemical type smell which disappears once absorbed into the skin. I did find my face felt a little sticky and I think that's why my make-up balled up a little in places.

I preferred to apply this to my neck chest and shoulders where I don't apply make-up and take advantage of the great sun protection it provides.
