4 tips for preventing bad breath

Of all the days a lady is likely to spend a decent amount of time kissing another being, it is her wedding day. But said smooching is not just limited to the newly crowned husband – she’s likely to be found planting her lips on the cheeks of guests, too.
This presence of constant puckering up is precisely why it is important to have minty fresh breath on your big day. So, avoid partnering terribly stinky breath with your fancy white frock by pocketing these four tips…
4 TIPS FOR PREVENTING BAD BREATH
#1. Scrape your tongue.
Brushing and flossing are sensational for a healthy mouth, but the main source of halitosis is a tongue festering with bacteria and food particles. By using a tongue scraper, you’ll get rid of this layer of filth, taking your bad breath with it.
#2. Chew sugar-free gum.
When it comes to halitosis, saliva is a solid defensive weapon. When you have plenty, bad-breath-causing bacteria is washed away; when you’re lacking, your breath is more likely to be stale. Chewing gum stimulates saliva, so together with its minty taste, it’ll help combat frightful odours, quick smart. (Not a fan of chewing gum on your wedding day? Pack these minty gems in your clutch instead: Cedel Fresh Breath Spray and Hollywood Make Out Mints.)
#3. Keep your mouth moist.
Considering dry mouth is a common cause of dreadful breath, it’s wise to keep a bottle of water on hand so you can sip on it regularly. Doing so will not only moisten your mouth instantly, it’ll also stimulate saliva for ongoing mouth hydration. If you’re not a big water drinker, you could pop a cap-full of chlorophyll into your water bottle. It has a tasty spearmint flavour and acts as a deodoriser for the body.
#4. Pick your mouthwash wisely.
A mouthwash is just a mouthwash, right? Um, not always. Using a mouthwash that states it has antibacterial benefits will do more than protect your mouth and teeth – it’ll help reduce odours, too. Try: LISTERINE Whitening Mouth Wash and Colgate Plax Ice.
One more tip...
Want to know if your breath is a little stinky but don’t know how to check? Try this simple trick: lick the inside of your wrist, allow it to dry completely, and then give it a whiff. If the scent is bad, chances are your breath is not so delightful either.
Do you suffer from bad breath? What are your top tips for beating halitosis? If you’re married, how did you keep your breath fresh on your big day?

I always make sure to brush not only my teeth, but also my tongue. Sugar-free gum is always great too.

Avoid foods that give you bad breath and I always use Listerine twice a day - if I'm feeling self-conscious, breath mints are a good standby! And a dental checkup once or twice a year is a must.

Bad breath is offputting. I am going to add chlorophyll to my water to see if that helps.

This is handy because I'm always conscious about my breath, although I've never been told it smelt bad, I still worry about these types of things.

I brush my tongue everytime I brush my teeth, I also use my toothbrush to pretty much scrub my whole mouth. I am very paranoid about bad breath, because I work with a few people who have it and it is disgusting.

for years i have chewed gum it helps with bad breath, dry mouth and helps me with my asthma as i have to breath thru my nose, specialist told me years ago to chew gum and that way particles which you breath in become trapped in your nostril hairs and air is clean when it makes its way to your lungs, and you do not breath in nasty germs which then give you the flue or cold

Also currently licking my wrist to test as well lol....smells ok I think. I scrape my tongue whenever I brush my teeth (toothbrush has a scraper on it) & I admit my mouth does feel cleaner for it.

I kept a packet of gum tucked away on my wedding day just in case i felt like i needed it. One of my girlfriends constantly had bad breath and she was so worried about this, she went to the doctor and it turned out she had a tummy infection so i think having bad breath constantly is an indicator that something needs looking into. Great Tips BH :)

So true but I have to confess I didn't even think about my breath on my wedding day.

We both had dental checkups before our wedding & honeymoon. I think it was more peace-of-mind than necessary but that's a good enough reason! Last thing I wanted was a possible toothache while on an island in the middle of the South Pacific!

lol I think we are all licking our wrists and glad theres no one to ask me what i am doing. I contantley eating mints and I just like them I love the chewy mints. As i like to chew gum but theres' never anywhere to get rid of it when its lost its taste. I do use a tongue scraper as I often get thrush, due to medication that i take. So I use nilstat and a tongue scraper to assist in getting rid of it.
