Bone broth: the 'it' beverage of 2015
Green juices may have been #trending in 2014, but for 2015 it’s all about bone broth.
Yes, it may sound less-than-appetising but trust me, you’re going to want to get friendly with your local butcher – stat.
Popular with wellness buffs and celebrities, the unusual health drink is essentially beef stock made with the bones of grass-fed beef, apple cider vinegar and herbs.
Not unlike a good old-fashioned chicken soup, a study from the University of Nevada Medical Center proved it’s packed with nutrients including amino acids, which can help to combat colds and flus.
The liquid could also be a natural remedy for arthritis sufferers, as it contains collagen (which can help to ease joint pain).
Need more convincing? Apparently it also has myriad beauty benefits – it can reduce inflammation and improve skin, nail and hair health!
Restaurants in the US are already catching on, offering the broth as a trendy takeaway option. But until it reaches our shores, you’ll be pleased to know it’s possible to whip up a pot in your own kitchen. Check out The Health Emporium's flavoursome recipe.
While I’ll be sticking with green juice this summer, I’m keen to try the meatier beverage in the cooler months.
