3 things you didn’t know about your underarms
If you were to list every body part you care for on a daily basis, your underarms would probably be close to the bottom. But now that spring is here and you’re showing a bit more skin, it’s time to pay more attention to your pits. Because even though they might not always be front of mind, a little consideration can make a huge difference to your skin. Watch the video above to see exactly what we’re talking about, or check out the facts and tips below.
UNDERARM FACT #1 - Each underarm is different
Each underarm has its own amount of hair and a different growth rate, so it’s totally possible to have one underarm that’s slightly hairier. So yes, it’s normal to need to shave one more than the other. Eeek!
UNDERARM FACT #2 - When you shave, you remove skin cells
When you shave, you can remove up to 35% of the top layer of skin cells. Just like when you peel a carrot, your underarms may look smooth straight after shaving, but after a while, they can begin to dry out because their protective barrier has been removed.
UNDERARM FACT #3 - The skin in that area is different
Underarm skin is unique and delicate compared to other parts of the body. It has a weaker barrier function because of the different mix of lipids, which is why you may find the skin there is easily irritated and prone to dryness.
Nobody wants to be caught out with red, itchy or dry underarms, so to help keep your skin healthy, use a gentle deodorant like Dove Original Roll-On Deodorant every day.
It contains ¼ moisturising cream, which works to repair the skin and restore moisture, in turn keeping your underarms hydrated and smooth, no matter how often you shave.
Are you surprised by these underarm facts? Have you ever used Dove Original Roll-On Deodorant?
